2010 Shiraz ($35 per bottle)

"Fragrant spice and pepper nuances to the red and black cherry fruit of the bouquet foreshadow a superb, medium-bodied palate, with a long and lingering display of satin-smooth fruit, oak largely a bystander." James Halliday Wine Companion 2014. Drink till 2030

"Medium to deep garnet with a touch of purple, the 2010 Shiraz displays maturing Shiraz notes of dried mulberries, blackberry compote and stewed plums leaping from the glass, backed-up by suggestions of incense, Indian spices and dried flowers. Medium-bodied and delicately fruited on the palate, it gives layers of spice and preserved berry flavors before finishing with very good length." Lisa Perotti-Brown The Wine Advocate, Robert Parker.  Drink it now to 2019+.

This vintage is a blend from 1978 & 1997 parcels.

The berries were sent whole to a combination of open and closed static fermentation tanks. The ferments were pressed off just before dryness; hence, the wine completed its primary fermentation in the oak barrels, adding some spiciness. The wine was then matured for 10 months in about one third new barrels, mainly from the Allier and Vosges forests.
