Reviewed by Wine & Viticultural Journal Sep-Oct 2013 | Best of Tasting: 'Best of tasting: Youthful, medium yellow colour... Dry, racy palate with good balance and lemon zest - made to last; evolving toast, honey and hints of green pea also apparent. Good fruit length. Will mature well; its best is yet to come.'

'Umamu Estate is one of Margaret River's quietest achievers; this wine shows yellow peach and ripe pineapple flavours with sweetly spiced oak and a touch of buttery richness. Soft and creamy with a final flourish of lemon acidity.' - Qantas
Cabernet Merlot 2008
Winestate | Best of Style Tastings 2014
'Still in excellent condition for a 5 year-old with soft mulberry-like fruit, gentle oak and slightly drying tannins with a high level of acidity.'
Featured in the Sydney Morning Herald Wine Guide Sep 2013
'This new producer's impressive range of wines have the bonus of age. This shiraz is youthful all over : deep dark red-purple coloured, smelling of cassis, toasty oak and meaty charcuterie characters. Intense in the mouth, concentrated and dense, with impressive tannins adding authority and structure. Well worth cellaring. Now to 2030.' - Huon Hooke
Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
Gold Award | Scoop Tasting Winter 2014
'One of Umamu's two gold-medal winners at the Scoop Tasting was this sexy, supple number. There's a European-ness to this wine, but with an unmistakable Margaret River stamp. 2008 was a great vintage, and its fabulous to see what a bit of age does to these rich reds. Once ripe, the red fruit is more like potpourri, yet the Margs signature mint and olive savouriness, and oaky toastiness is still apparent. This beauty is ageing gracefully and slowly, still showing plenty of signs of youth. A fantastic splurge wine.'
