Margaret River 50th Anniversary Celebrations

Margaret River is celebrating 50 years in the making.  The first vineyard Vasse Felix was planted in 1967 in response to a 1966 research paper by University of Western Australia agronomist, Dr John Gladstones who identified the region as possessing optimum growing conditions for viticulture.

The Margaret River Wine Association is organising events in Singapore, Sydney and Melbourne over the next month to celebrate this anniversary.  We are very excited to be participating in these celebrations.  To be in a tasting with the top producers in Margaret River is a treat.  The tastings are ordered in terms of the year vines were first planted in each vineyard.  And from the list we are one of the oldest with first plantings in 1978, 39 years ago.  Isn’t that cool!  Please come and join us.

So good to have seen you at the Good Food Wine Show Perth

We so wish we were still at the show… It really was great to meet so many lovely people and reconnect with our friends and supporters! 

The weekend did get a little emotional and can I share why?  So many of you came to our stand saying that you were drawn by our name and brand.  You then shared why.  Wonderful to hear your appreciation of our creations.  And to top it all, you enjoyed the wines – yay! 

You even spoilt us with coffee and ice cream. Thanks so much.

It was fantastic to be featured in the Margaret River & Cellaring Sessions in The Riedel Drinks Lab Presented by Nick Ryan.  

Hope you have all recovered from the event, hope it will take us a while so that we can continue to relish in it.  Thank you all again.

UMAMU on show in Perth in July

We are excited to be participating at another Perth event this year - the upcoming Good Food Wine Show at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre next month from 14th-17th July.

We shall be releasing our Shiraz 2009 94 points Halliday at the show.  Produced from five parcels of Shiraz on the vineyard planted in 1978 & 1997.  

We shall also have on taste our recently released Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, 96 points Halliday featured in Halliday’s Cellaring Supplement, along with our other current release wines and all time favourite Sparkling.

Food Wine Music Friends - UMAMU at Sunset Wine 18th & 19th February, Scarborough Beach, Perth

Food. Wine. Music. Friends. The harmonious combination of the four, come alive at the Sunset Wine Event happening this 18th & 19th February at Scarborough Beach, Perth.

It is with great pleasure to announce that UMAMU will be taking part to share with you our beautifully crafted wines.  A special treat will be in store for those who come as we will be debuting our award winning, 2010 babies - UMAMU Sauvignon Blanc Semillon & UMAMU Mac’s Chardonnay.

Rated with a high score of 94 points by none other than the highly acclaimed James Halliday; our Sauvignon Blanc Semillon comes beautifully coloured with tones of pale straw and light green hues. The Sauvignon Blanc Semillon gives a refreshing herbaceous and citrus aromas with every whiff and the lovely balanced mouthful will leave you wanting more.

Mac’s Chardonnay on the other hand is unlike the rest of the Chardonnays produced by UMAMU. This luscious bottle is especially unique and is close to our hearts. It is named after UMAMU’s patriarch, Mac in celebration and appreciation of his journey and love for Chardonnay which led him to Margaret River, over 30 years ago.  We debut this wine in the same month as Mac’s birthday with much love.

Each bottle of this lovely Chardonnay contains grapes which have been hand picked in the early mornings of late February.  Whole bunched pressed and 100% barrel fermented with a combination of new and old French oak, Mac’s Chardonnay elegantly dances around the palate with its rich and succulent fruit flavours and nutty creamy texture.  Just like any ending of a great performance, Mac’s Chardonnay ends smoothly with a buttery lingering finish.

Terms and Conditions

  1. By submitting an entry to this promotion the entrant is deemed to accept these Terms and Conditions. 
  2. This prize draw is open to Western Australian residents aged 18 and over. 
  3. Employees of the Promoter and its contractors and agents associated with this promotion and their immediate family, are not eligible to enter.  For the purpose of this clause 'immediate family' means 'spouse, de-facto, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or first cousin'.
  4. The promotion commences at 09.00am Western Standard Time (WST) on Saturday 12th November 2016 and closes at 5.00pm (WST) on Tuesday 13th December 2016 (“Promotional Period”).
  5. Three winners will be identified at the time of competition closing 5.00pm (WST) on 13th December 2016 at the offices of Big Head Digital, 12 Roper Blvd, Hammond Park WA 6160.  
  6. Winner is selected at random and the Judge’s decision is final. The winners will be notified by email within 2 days of the draw date. If contact cannot be made within five days, the prize will be forfeited and may be passed on other entrant. It is the winner’s responsibility to notify the promoter of any change in contact information.
  7. The prize includes three six packs of UMAMU Estate Sparkling Chardonnay valued at $387 per six pack.
  8. If any part of the prize is unavailable, the Promoter, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to substitute the prize (or that part of the prize) with a prize to the equal value and/or specification, subject to any law or written directions from a regulatory authority.
  9. Prizes are not exchangeable, redeemable or transferrable.
  10. The Promoter reserves the right to verify by any means which the Promoter considers necessary the identity of any entrant and to satisfy itself that the entrant has fulfilled these Terms and Conditions.  The entrant must co-operate fully with the Promoter in any verification process.
  11. If an entrant breaches any of these Terms and Conditions, acts unlawfully, tampers or attempts to tamper with the promotion, jeopardizes the fair and proper conduct of the promotion, or acts improperly or unethically (each in the Promoter's sole opinion), the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify the entry and any prize will be forfeited.

To the fullest extent permitted at law all implied terms and conditions are excluded from these Terms and Conditions.To the fullest extent permitted at law each entrant releases the Promoter from any and all costs, damages, expenses, and losses which any entrant may suffer or incur as a result of the Promoter's action or inaction arising out of or in connection with the promotion.
  19. Without limiting clause 22 in no circumstances is the Promoter liable to any entrant for any indirect or consequential losses, including but not limited to loss of opportunity or profit.
