A Toast to Mothers Newsletter 6 May 2020

I hope you are all well. Thank you, everyone, for not only reading our letters but for connecting with us about them and how you are doing. It means the world to us reading yours and knowing you are doing ok - we value each and every one of you. The Ascension Meditation Theme over the weekend 'in Sweden' by Teacher Atri Ishaya was about 'The Heart'. With that mindset, wow, everything melts into a puddle of Love. This then reminded me of the interview with Amanda Graham where she said positive grows on positive. Lovely and I thought to myself how perfect as we celebrate a very special woman in all our lives - our Mum - on Mother's Day. Mum, Ann with Dad, Mac have together given us so much joy, heart and love. This love we strive to express in everything we do here at UMAMU. Mum's favourite white wine (until UMAMU) was Pavillon Blanc from Chateau Margaux in Bordeaux. So when we started to produce wine, we just had to try to produce our version to emulate. And on the front label, Mum has written 'Blanc' while on the back label, we have Dad writing, 'For Ann'. Mum's favourite red is a Bordeaux too, and so we named one of our Cabernet's Ann's Cabernet and Mum's writing Ann is on the front label. These little writes on some of our wines give us the biggest pleasure and Mum's legacy continues. Over the last month, it is wonderful that both these wines have been well-reviewed. The Sauvignon Blanc with Wine Selectors Winemaker series pack and Ann's Cabernet featured in the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age Good Food Section. Mum would be so happy. Our Sauvignon Blanc was made just for Mum but after losing Mum, I wanted Mum to travel and it was fantastic when the 2011 vintage was selected and flew on Qantas International First Class. So this week we are showcasing Ann's favourite white, the 2013 UMAMU Estate Sauvignon Blanc with Risotto, hot smoked salmon, peas, and asparagus. It really is a delicious wine and may lots of Mothers out there enjoy a glass or two, this Sunday as we toast you all. Huon Hooke gave it 92 points, "This winery is unusual for the maturity of its releases, especially rare in sauvignon blanc. Remarkably young light-yellow hue; nutty, toasty bouquet reflecting oak fermentation. Nougat and marzipan nuances also. The palate is fresh and taut, again young for its age." Before I sign off, on Thursday the 7th of May we will also be celebrating Wesak Day. Wesak Day commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death of Buddha. The event is observed on the full-moon of the lunar month Vesakha, which falls in April or May. "Love the whole world as a mother loves her only child." - Buddha Happy Mothers Day to all. Warmly with Heart & Love, Charmaine & Team UMAMU.
