UMAMU Estate 2005 SSB Wins Silver at the 2025 Endeavour Group Margaret River Wine Show

UMAMU Estate is delighted to share that our Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2005 has been awarded a Silver Medal with 90 points at the 2025 Endeavour Group Margaret River Wine Show.

This recognition is especially meaningful as our vintage was the oldest Sauvignon Blanc Semillon submitted to the event – with the next oldest entry from 2023.

Our 2005 SSB continues to demonstrate the elegance and longevity of the UMAMU winemaking philosophy. We are proving that carefully cellared wines can shine brightly even two decades after harvest.

That it was joint second place in its class underscores how well this timeless style still resonates with today’s judges and wine lovers.

The 2005 UMAMU Estate Semillon Sauvignon Blanc is available for purchase from our online store.

This wine also won Gold at the 2024 Australian Small Winemakers Show, Gold at the 2023 Wine Showcase Awards, and received 4.5 stars in the Winestate Magazine 2022 Edition – a rare achievement for a mature white wine still showing such vibrancy.

“We are thrilled to see our 2005 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon continue to be recognised after nearly twenty years. We rereleased this 20 year old wine to mark our 20th Anniversary.” says Charmaine, principal of UMAMU Estate.

“This was the oldest SSB submitted to the event, and it’s wonderful to see the judges appreciating the structure and complexity that only time can bring. At UMAMU, we’re passionate about releasing our wines when they are ready. This Silver Medal confirms what we’ve always believed: that patience yields a fine wine.”

About the Endeavour Group Margaret River Wine Show

Now in its sixth year at the Margaret River HEART on Wadandi Boodja, the 2025 Endeavour Group Margaret River Wine Show attracted over 630 entries from nearly 100 exhibitors.

Under the leadership of Chair of Judges David Bicknell, Chief Winemaker at Oakridge Wines in the Yarra Valley, a team of fifteen judges and associate judges assessed wines across numerous categories, showcasing the best expressions of one of Australia’s most renowned wine regions.

The event continues to celebrate the craftsmanship and diversity of Western Australian winemaking. Congratulations to all the 2025 medal and trophy recipients — and to the volunteers and stewards whose dedication helps make the show a highlight of the Australian wine calendar.
