“Filled to overflowing with all the goodies cabernet can offer; lashings of dark fruits centred on blackcurrant, layered tannins and high quality oak; the finish conjures up a savoury edge that adds another dimension."

"Deep, dark red colour with a trace of purple still remaining in the meniscus, the bouquet very briary at first, with dried herb nuances that include a touch of regional seaweed or nori character. There are violet, cassis and blueberry notes too. The wine is stately and elegant, its firmness lingering together with sweet blueberry and cassis fruit flavours. Lovely balance. A very attractive cabernet with the benefit of bottle age."

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Bright & fresh.

Nose: Violets, plums and gorgeous toast.

Palate: Amazing line; the acids were lively and seamlessly balanced with tannins and nearly dark fruit. The structure pure class. A touch of dark chocolate gives hits of secondary development.

Dear UMAMU family,

We are excited to offer you this Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French oak barrels for 18 months then allowed to develop in the bottle before releasing.  This is a wine shinning to the heavens. A recent taster said he would have never guessed the vintage.

This wine is produced from Cabernet Sauvignon parcels planted in 1978 and 1982. Alongside our Shiraz vines planted back in 1978, the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are the oldest parcels on our family vineyard just 10km east of the actual Margaret River in Western Australia.

Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are one of the world's most recognisable and best-loved red wine grapes varieties. It is particularly grown in the Bordeaux region of southwest France, which has a very similar climate to that of the Margaret River. In fact Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon wines are the most produced variety from the wine region.

Cheers!
