THE VINTAGE GUIDE

95 points

“Deep crimson. Intense blackcurrant, blackberry, mocha, tobacco leaf, hint liquorice aromas. Lovely complex blackcurrant, blackberry fruits, some wood varnish notes, fine bittersweet rextures, lovely roasted chestnut, vanilla notes and fresh minerally acidity. Finishes velvety with some earthy notes. Lovely complexity, density and tannin ripeness. 100% cabernet sauvignon.” Drink till 2032

HUON HOOKE

93 points

"Deep, brooding dark red colour with a faint trace of purple. The bouquet is cassis-like, very cabernet varietal, the palate deliciously fruit-sweet and lush, balanced and finely structured, with restrained crushed-leaf and briary overtones. The palate is balanced and well supplied with powdery tannins that dry and cleanse the aftertaste. A very attractive cabernet to drink or cellar." Drink till 2029

Dear UMAMU family,

We are excited to offer you this Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French oak barrels for 18 months then allowed to develop in the bottle before releasing.

This wine is produced from Cabernet Sauvignon parcels planted in 1978 and 1982. Alongside our Shiraz vines planted back in 1978, the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are the oldest parcels on our family vineyard just 10km east of the actual Margaret River in Western Australia.

Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are one of the world's most recognisable and best-loved red wine grapes varieties. It is particularly grown in the Bordeaux region of southwest France, which has a very similar climate to that of the Margaret River. In fact Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon wines are the most produced variety from the wine region.

Cheers!
