A mix of six current release UMAMU wines for you to have a taste of UMAMU.
2019 UMAMU Sparkling MacAnn - Made in the traditional method with fifteen months on lees. We name this MacAnn after our founders Mac & Ann who discovered Margaret River in the early 80s and fell in love with our vineyard in 1997. Made with Sémillon and a touch of Sauvignon Blanc, the wine is utter perfection, with delicious layers on the pallet of freshly harvested snow pea, crisp green apple and finishing with toasted cashew notes at the end of the palate. Perfect for anytime but especially during the festive season and for celebrating life!

"On lees for 15 months. Disgorged in October 2020. 4g/l dosage. Made from Semillon grapes and highly perfumed with lemon lime cordial. Elderflower and golden kiwifruit. Shaved fennel, green apple skin and lime curd. Buttered toast, wild lime pickle and caper berry. Traditional method sparkling Semillon isn't something you come across often and the results are unique. A touch herbal, nuances of oak and cheesy leesy. The dynamic flavours of Semillon as it develops in complexity adds a exotic fragrance and acidity is perky and driving. I’d say a raw kingfish with jalapeno and ponzu would be a very nice pairing indeed." 90 The Wine Pilot Shanteh Wale.
2019 UMAMU Sauvignon Blanc Semillon - We call this our versatile wine, goes with all types of cuisine. "4.5* Winestate "A complex spicy herbaceous nose with a lovely drive of lemon-like varietal fruit flavours just starting to develop honeyed toasty notes."
"The vineyards providing the fruit for this blend were planted in 1987 for the Sauvignon Blanc and 1997 for the Semillon. There is a small percentage of the wine which has been fermented in French oak barrels in order to enhance the texture and complexity of the wine. A shining pale green/lemon hue here. There is a soft tropical nose with spices, herbs, peaches, passionfruit and mango. The extra time here has allowed the wine to soften and come together. A gentle texture here, but with a fine line of acidity. Guava notes emerge on the palate. A wine of medium length for enjoying over the next year or two." 92 The Wine Pilot Ken Gargett Drink till 2026.
2018 UMAMU Chardonnay - Chardonnay is what brought my parents, our founders to Margaret River in the early eighties. "Struck river stones. . Pomelo flesh, white nectarine and crab apple blossom. Sandstone, white lily and lemon curd. Marigold and shortbread. Fruit is looking youthful and fresh. A flinty reduction backed but lovely peach ripeness. Dried pineapple and almond flour on the finish. A welterweight of a wine but with substance and flair. Oak is toasty but suits the style and certainly has the fruit to carry it. Drinking very well now and will cellar another 2- years. Serve with buttery crayfish in the shell." 95 The Wine Pilot Shanteh Wale Drink till 2026.
"From vines planted by the family some twenty years earlier, the Margaret River region enjoyed its usual superb vintage in 2018. Skin contact is avoided with gentle pressing of whole bunches. Barrel fermentation. A richly flavoured Chardonnay here, bright yellow in colour. A lovely creamy, nutty nose with peaches and orange rinds, melons and a flick of grapefruit. Juicy citric acidity and fine balance here, with decent length. Drink over the next four to six years." 92 The Wine Pilot Ken Gargett Drink 2028-2030
"Gleaming straw-green; a lusciously rich chardonnay, all its wares laid out before you. It needs food, but will happily accompany every dish." 94 James Halliday
2018 UMAMU Rose - This wine is inspired for all who touch our lives. Produced from our 0.4ha parcel of Cabernet Franc planted in 2001 with a top up of Merlot planted in 1997. @the3winesmen “Ahhh this is a wine drinkers wine. No BS to be seen. Just a fantastic ‘no brainer’ of a wine. As the label says “Balance and Contentment”. Is there anything more you want in life, let alone your wine? Just when you thought Rosé couldn’t be sophisticated, UMAMU stepped up to the plate and hit a home run.”
Double Gold Medal Women's Wine & Spirit Awards 2023.
2018 UMAMU Cabernet Sauvignon - This wine is produced from Cabernet Sauvignon parcels planted in 1978 and 1982. Alongside our Shiraz vines planted back in 1978, the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are the oldest parcels on our family vineyard just 10km east of the actual Margaret River in Western Australia.

2014 UMAMU Cane Cut - My Mum always wanted us to produce a sweet wine to blind taste with a famous Sauterne from France... "Dried mango cheeks, papaya hull and glace pineapple rings. Rooibos tea, marigold and orange blossom. Candied cashews, pine nut brittle and apricot. Lusciously sweet with creme brulee, nutmeg and cinnamon sugar. A touch of red grapefruit skin on the finish. Its a steal for the price and should be on your radar for stocking your cellar for the next 10-15 years. Serve with brandy oranges and double whipped cream." 95 points The Wine Pilot Shanteh Wale Drink till 2029; 95 Huon Hooke; Silver Medal Langton's Margaret River Wine Show 2018.
